Embrace Arts: Inclusive Facilitation Workshop

Join Erin Koop and Tiffany Tjosvold for an extended workshop on inclusive arts facilitation practices. This will be an opportunity for individuals to enhance their current facilitation practices.​

One side says topics we'll be exploring and includes pillars of accessible facilitation, making spaces more sensory friendly and creating lesson plans that work for a wide array of body and brains as well as a program support. The other column is what we aren't doing and it includes not teaching content that's only relevant for adaptive classes, specific curriculum, talking about audience accessibility or providing 1:1 consultations about specific classes.

When: Sunday, March 9th, 2025

Timeline: 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Throughout the day there will be a total of 1 hour of lunch and snack breaks.

Where: SKAM Studio 846 (846 Broughton St.) 

Who: This program is recommended for individuals with an existing facilitation practice. Examples and exercises provided will primarily be in regards to dance, music, and theatre but content may be relevant to other arts facilitators. 

Cost: $100.00*

Venue Accessibility

SKAM Studio 846 has ramped entry to the building, with an automatic push button to open the door. Entry to all rooms and washrooms used in this workshop have level access. 

The venue has a single user, all gender, wheelchair accessible washroom. This venue has armless chairs with a weight capacity of up to 400 lbs. They can easily be moved for additional space. 

Additional Accessibility Notes

- Our aim is to have a scent reduced environment, so please refrain from using any scented products prior to attending. This includes products with artificial scents like perfumes, colognes, body sprays but also products made with essential oils.

- ASL Interpretation is available by request. Please aim to request interpretation by February 17th to ensure interpreter availability. 

Parking & Transit

Pay parking at on-street meters is in effect from 9am-8pm. Payment can be made by coin, credit card, the ParkVictoria app, or at an on-street pay station within your zone. Please do not park in the YMCA parking lot, as they will ticket you if you do not have a Y parking pass. 

It is a 500m walk from the Douglas and Fort Downtown Bus Hub.
